In order to achieve maximum participation and internationality
The next edition of Alimentaria FoodTech, the benchmark show in Spain for process equipment, ingredients and food technology, will take place from 19 to 22 October 2021, at Fira de Barcelona Gran Vía venue in Barcelona. This has been jointly decided by the trade fair institution and the Organizing Committee of the show, composed by the main associations and institutions in the sector with the aim of preserving the show’s commercial appeal and maximum representation.
The new dates of the event, initially planned for October this year, are the result of an intense debate in which the main sectoral actors have participated, seeking to maintain the position of Alimentaria FoodTech as a leading platform for new opportunities for the sector and a point of convergence of the entire food and beverage production chain.
The movement of Alimentaria FoodTech in the fair calendar will make its celebration also coincide with the development of Hispack, the most important packaging, process and logistics show in Spain and one of the first in Europe of its specialty, a scenario that is presented as the most favorable in the current situation.
For Ricardo Márquez, director of the show, the decision taken “is the best solution for all of our participants. Despite the context of a pandemic that has led us to postpone the celebration, we are pleased to have found unbeatable dates within a highly saturated fair calendar in the year 2021”. Marquez is convinced that the second half of next year “will be the ideal time for Alimentaria FoodTech to accompany the growth of the sector, and reaffirm itself as a key point of support for the relaunch and visibility of this strategic industry”.
Among the main supporters of celebrating Alimentaria FoodTech in October is amec, the association of Spanish internationalized industrial companies that brings together a hundred food technology companies and is a strategic partner of the show to reinforce its international positioning in key geographical areas for export such as Latin America, North Africa and Southeast Asia.
“Holding Alimentaria FoodTech in October guarantees a more standardized international mobility scenario in an environment more conducive to achieving the international objectives of the show and its participating companies“, says the show’s director.
A transversal and more digital offer
Alimentaria FoodTech is working to add new digital proposals to its traditional face-to-face format that will allow access to a broader international market to boost international business. Various webinars, chats, meetings and virtual meetings, among other interactive actions, will offer new business opportunities that will be added to the face-to-face experience that will continue to be predominant in the fair.
As planned, Alimentaria FoodTech will present a transversal offer based on the key areas of the sector: processing, ingredients, packaging, industry 4.0, food safety, refrigeration, maintenance, logistics and other industrial services. “A transversal reorganization that presents solutions to the production chain of all the food sectors and that supposes a great advantage for all its exhibitors“, concludes the director of the show, Ricardo Márquez.
Alimentaria FoodTech represents the interests of a key sector for the production and distribution of food and beverages. The manufacture of machinery, technology, ingredients and services for the food industry in Spain billed a total of 2,429 million euros in 2018, of which 686 million euros corresponded to exports (about 2% more than foreign sales in 2017), according to amec data.
