Alimentaria FoodTech is launching a new edition of its FoodTech Awards, awards that recognise the most innovative and disruptive solutions in the field of technology applied to the food industry. With these awards, the show – which will take place from 6 to 8 October at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue – reinforces its commitment to promoting and enhancing the digitalisation, sustainability and industrial transformation of the sector.
On the one hand, the FoodTech Innova Awards, aimed at exhibiting companies that develop advanced technologies or ingredients for food production, transformation or preservation; and on the other, the FoodTech Emprende Awards, focused on startups with innovative proposals and high growth potential.
The call is open to companies and entrepreneurs who want to present their projects, especially valuing those initiatives that provide advances in key areas such as automation, digitalization or sustainability. The deadline for the submission of candidacies is July 3.
The presentation of these awards is part of a sector in full expansion.
The Spanish agrifoodtech ecosystem, which encompasses innovative technologies and solutions applied to the entire agri-food chain, from agricultural production to food processing, distribution and consumption, maintains a prominent position in Europe. It has around 420 active startups specialising in food and technological innovation, according to the latest report by ICEX Spain Export and Investment and Eatable Adventures.
“Spain is among the main European foodtech ecosystems thanks to the combination of a powerful food industry, a solid technological capacity and an extensive innovation network, made up of more than 30,000 potentially driving companies, more than 50 universities and twenty specialised technology centres linked to the sector,” says the director of the event, Ricardo Márquez.
Strategic Platform
In this scenario, Alimentaria FoodTech is consolidating itself as a strategic platform to connect companies, startups and institutions, accelerate the transfer of knowledge and make visible the technological solutions that will mark the future of the sector.
The FoodTech Awards will take place on 6 October at the FoodTech Innovarena space, within the framework of Alimentaria FoodTech, which will be held from 6 to 8 October 2026 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. The next edition is expected to host some 400 exhibiting companies, from 15 countries, which will present the latest innovations in machinery, technology and ingredients for the agri-food industry.
